Spencer Aiden Langston, 17, passed away unexpectedly in a tragic car accident in the early morning hours of May
30, 2024. Later that same day he was due to graduate and receive his diploma from Herriman High School.
Aiden was born on July 11, 2006, to Gary and Kristen Langston in Murray, Utah. His parents were quick to brag
that he was “the cutest boy ever.” As a kid, he spent hours playing with Legos, building newly purchased sets and
custom creations. He was passionate about drawing, reading book after book, dinosaurs, playing soccer and flag
football, riding his bike, playing video games, and spending time with friends. He loved animals as much or more
than people – especially cats. While cats couldn’t be allowed at dad’s house, that never stopped him from begging
and bargaining for one! He was even willing to bring one from his mom’s house and then take it back home! Aiden
was an excellent younger brother who could always be counted on to watch over and protect his big sister, a role
he took very seriously. He was great to his parents and could always be counted on to help.
As a student at Herriman High School, Aiden was quick to make many new and lasting friends. He was loyal to a
fault and would do anything for “his people”. His friends were part of his family and he loved them dearly. Aiden was
very intelligent and wise for his life experience. He was a deep thinker and intellect. School was not his top priority,
but it was clear that he was going to be successful in whatever he decided to do in life. He was an avid learner who
enjoyed researching and studying topics and activities that interested him. Anything to do with cars was his favorite
subject!
Aiden was so excited to get his driver’s license, knowing that meant new freedom and opportunities. He became
quite the chauffeur helping his family get people back and forth. Most of the time he didn’t even complain! He had a
great love for cars and trucks. He worked at Jiffy Lube and learned quickly how to repair and maintain nearly every
type of vehicle on the road. He loved searching for ways to modify his car to make it “better” and “faster” with “more
horsepower” and he was constantly buying new parts. It was a never-ending exercise of modifications that would
make the car louder and more noticeable to all the neighbors…and other unsuspecting drivers! Cash on hand
never seemed to slow him down as he was constantly bargaining and negotiating with someone, typically mom or
dad, to help finance his greatest passion! He never turned down an opportunity to help other people repair their
own cars. He never met an exotic sports car that he didn’t want to own and put the engine to the test. He was an
expert negotiator at trading one car for another. In his short life, he owned no less than 5 cars…that we know of! At
one point, he owned two different vehicles – one to get him around town and one to get him up the canyon to go
snowboarding with his family and friends! It was tough to argue with the practicality and rationality of that decision!
Aiden had a love for life and was always searching for ways to find more joy and happiness. He was gifted
athletically and enjoyed playing several different sports. Rugby became his sport of passion, and he absolutely
loved it! During the season he hobbled around with aches, pains and many bruises. He never encountered an
opponent that was too big to tackle! He was a fearless tackler and never backed down from another player on the
field.
Aiden had a special relationship with his mother. He enjoyed having long talks with her about his buddies,
girlfriends, challenges, and opportunities that he had in life. He relied on her for advice and emotional support.
He loved playing family games, and he was especially proud of himself when he could convince his dad to play too!
He loved going to the gym, preparing healthy protein meals, and showing off his extensive muscles. He had a
6-pack, or maybe it was a 12-pack, that most men would kill for! He enjoyed tv shows and movies (and texting
friends throughout!), especially horror movies. He couldn’t seem to get enough of those. He looked forward to long
talks sitting in the hot tub with his brothers. He was up for any dare he was extended in their “Truth or Dare” games
ranging from polar plunges in the pool to running around the yard in the snow. His craziest, and questionably most
successful dare was the night he decided to eat an entire ghost pepper. After drinking an entire gallon of milk and
eating several bowls of ice cream, he convinced himself he wouldn’t do that again!
Aiden was most definitely the loudest member of the family. His volume was a function of his excitement and
happiness. The louder he became, the more excited and happier he was! It was common to have him nestled in the
basement doing “his thing” while the rest of us in the house could hear him clearly, even a couple stories up! Video
games with family and friends could be deafening!
Aiden loved the outdoors, except when it came to pulling weeds and mowing the lawn. Believe it or not, he was
quite skilled with the lawnmower, creating incredibly straight lines that were even satisfactory to his dad! While
outdoors, he enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, sitting around the fire, and shooting guns. He nearly shot his eye out
a few weeks ago!
Aiden became interested in serving in the military in his early teenage years and enlisted in the Navy as soon as he
turned 17. He was excited to report for basic training on June 25, 2024. He was proud to serve his country and
prove to his family and loved ones that he would have a successful military career. He was blessed with an
excellent mentor and friend, Petty Officer Kizer. There is no doubt that he was going to thrive in the Navy where he
wanted to train to be a welder, doing under-water welding. His loyalty, work ethic, and love of his fellow seamen
would have paved the way for a tremendous life experience in the Navy. He wanted to travel the world exploring
distant lands, while meeting new people and experiencing the beauty of this amazing planet.
Aiden is survived by his father Gary Langston (Jen) and mother Kristen Langston (Christy), his sister Sydney
Langston, step-siblings Dylan Rodabough (Nicole), Dallas Rodabough (Lexie), Tyler Rodabough, Ryley
Heyer-Wilkinson, Easton Heyer-Wilkinson, grandparents Susan Langston and Don and Linda Lyster, and of course,
many loyal and amazing friends!
