FRISCO, Texas – The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team (3-0-0-0) closes out preliminary round play of the 2025 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship today (April 28) against Germany and will look to finish it undefeated. The U.S. At the 2025 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship, the Under-18 Men’s National Team defeated Sweden 6-3 on April 26 to clinch Group B’s top spot. Despite trailing 2-0 early in the first period, the U.S. responded with six of the next seven goals. Will Moore (Ithaca, N.Y.) got Team USA on the board late in the first, and Jacob Kvasnicka (Plymouth, Minn.) tied it early in the second. Mikey Berchild (Minnetonka, Minn.) tied the game again after Sweden briefly regained the lead, and Cullen Potter (Minneapolis, Minn.) gave the United States its first lead just before the second intermission. Drew Schock (Green Bay, Wisconsin) increased the lead in the third period, and Teddy Mutryn (Norwell, Massachusetts) secured the victory with an empty-net goal. Goaltender Patrick Quinlan (Kennett Square, Pa.) was solid in net, stopping 25 shots, including a key save on a shorthanded Swedish breakaway. Kvasnicka was named Player of the Game with a goal and two assists. The U.S. outshot Sweden 42-28.
